Biography
Since 2023, Paul Drouet is repetiteur with conducting duties at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau (Germany) and musical director of the Laurentius Kammerorchester. He performs there regularly as a conductor, pianist, chamber musician.
Since 2024, he also assists the french conductor Marie Jacquot, with the Orchestre National de France, WDR Sinfonieorchester Cologne, Staatskapelle Dresden, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, and Orchestre de Chambre de Paris.
Alongside his piano studies in Versailles and at the CNSM of Paris, Paul starts conducting youth orchestras at a relative young age. He takes his first lessons at the CNSM, and studies later under the guidance of Adrian McDonnel at the Schola Cantorum Paris. In 2019 he is engaged as assistant conductor in the Palais Royal orchestra with Jean-Philippe Sarcos. He decides to move to Germany to continue his studies in Master of Conducting with Prof. Scott Sandmeier at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg. He works there as a Repetiteur with conducting duties at the Freiburg Theater from October 2021 to Februar 2022. He finishes his studies in Vienna, in Postgraduate at the MDW Vienna with Simeon Pironkoff and Andreas Henning.

After studies at the Conservatoire de Versailles with Edda Erlendsdottir, he was admitted at the age of 19 to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) in the piano class of Denis Pascal, Laurent Cabasso, Varduhi Yeritsyan and Sébastien Vichard. He obtained his Master’s under the guidance of Hortense Cartier-Bresson and Fernando Rossano, and participated in masterclasses for world famous pianists including Dominique Merlet, Jacque Rouvier, Pascal Devoyon, Bertrand Chamayou, Jean-Claude Pennetier and Benedetto Lupo.
Interested in historically informed performance, he is laureate of the fondation Royaumont where he studies Pianoforte with Malcolm Bilson, Alexei Lubimov, and particulary in the repertoire of Chopin with Eduardo Torbianelli.
Passionate about french Music, he is also laureate of l’Académie de Musique Française at the Ecole Normale in 2016, where he works on the french impressionist repertoire with Jean-Claude Pennetier, Bruno Rigutto, Jean-Philippe Collard and Anne-Queffélec.
In 2013, Paul was a semi-finalist in the 1st edition of the the “Virtuose du coeur” competition, presided over by Anne Queffélec. The same year, he was awarded 3rd prize in the Thomas Kuti competition in Metz. In 2017 he was awarded 1st medal at the Chopin piano competition in Brest, and got noticed at the Epinal international piano competition. He is now invited to perform as a soloist or chamber musician in several festivals in France, Europe and Asia : Les Pianissimes (Paris), Jeunes Talents (Paris), Les nuits romantiques (Aix les Bains), Alto en Bearn (Navarrenx)…
